Urban Automotive Widetrack: A Carbon-Clad Makeover for the Mercedes G-Wagon

The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon has long been a favorite canvas for luxury and performance tuners. With its boxy silhouette and off-road heritage, it’s no surprise that the aftermarket scene for this SUV is crowded. Yet, every so often, a fresh take on the G-Wagon emerges—one that stands out even in a saturated market. That’s exactly what UK-based Urban Automotive has achieved with its new Widetrack program.

Known for their premium body kits and refined styling, Urban Automotive has been customizing G-Wagons for over ten years. Their latest creation, the Widetrack package, is their 30th unique program for the iconic SUV, and arguably one of their boldest yet. Designed for the W465 generation—including the AMG G 63, G 500, and G 450d—the Widetrack transforms the already-imposing G-Wagon into a carbon fiber showpiece.

This package includes over 40 carbon fiber components, from aggressively widened front and rear fenders to intricate mesh grille inserts. Each piece has been sculpted to give the vehicle a broader, more performance-driven stance. A set of 23-inch forged alloy wheels, co-developed with Vossen, further enhances the visual presence.

For those seeking a more understated look, Urban also introduced the Aero Kit, which emphasizes elegance without adding width. This setup includes a vented carbon hood overlay, a roof-mounted LED light cluster, and a sleek rear spoiler. It retains the G-Wagon’s original lines while subtly modernizing its appearance.

Urban offers both kits for installation on customer-owned vehicles or as part of fully built units. They currently support three W465 variants—the V8-powered AMG G 63 and the 3.0-liter turbocharged G 500 and G 450d. Compatibility with earlier G-Wagon models may be possible with modifications.

While pricing hasn’t been disclosed, Urban Automotive’s builds are available globally, signaling their intent to cater to G-Wagon enthusiasts well beyond Europe.
