AMG-Inspired Diesel Mercedes-Benz G-Class Boasts Panamericana Grille and Rugged Style

While the second-generation Mercedes G-Wagen is exclusively offered in G 550 and AMG G 63 versions in the U.S., European customers have the enticing option to choose a diesel-powered model as an alternative to gasoline engines. This unique G 400 d model presents a compelling case for those seeking a blend of power, efficiency, and rugged style.

Ditching the V8, this diesel dynamo boasts a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine that works seamlessly with a nine-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. This powerful combination churns out 325 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, propelling the G 400 d to hit 62 mph in a mere 6.4 seconds. With a top speed of 130 mph, it goes head-to-head with the performance of its gasoline sibling, the G 500.

In Germany, the base price of the G 400 d stands at approximately $126,000, making it around $12,700 less expensive than the gasoline version. However, to achieve the captivating customized look featured in the images, one must be prepared to incur additional costs. Delta4x4, the creative force behind the modifications, hasn’t disclosed specific pricing details, so interested parties should reach out to them directly.

Although the vehicle may bear a striking resemblance to the Mercedes-AMG G 63 at first glance, it misses out on certain features, such as side-mounted exhaust tips. As highlighted earlier, this model is powered by diesel, and its engine likely remains untouched. The customizations include a Panamericana-style grille, paying homage to the Affalterbach model, and fender flares that widen the vehicle by an impressive 3.2 inches.

The vehicle also sports a robust front bulbar, roof-mounted LED lights, and a 2-inch increase in ground clearance, courtesy of a lift kit. The new wheels, considered the crowning glory of the project, measure 10.5×22 inches and will soon be available not only for the G-Wagen but also for other off-roaders, including the Jeep Wrangler, Volkswagen Amarok, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Hilux.

For those intrigued by these stunning wheels, Delta4x4 encourages them to reach out for more information. In the end, the decision between this eye-catching custom off-roader and a stock version boils down to personal preference. One thing is for sure: this diesel-powered, AMG-inspired G-Wagen is bound to turn heads and spark conversations wherever it goes.
