Brabus Introduces V12-Powered Mercedes-AMG G 63 in Response to Emissions Constraints

In response to emissions constraints that led Mercedes-AMG to forgo a V12 engine option for the G 63, renowned aftermarket tuner Brabus has stepped in to fill the void. Brabus has unveiled a V12-powered version of the Mercedes-AMG G 63, offering enthusiasts a high-performance alternative.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63, equipped with a standard 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine, delivers impressive figures of 577 horsepower (585 PS/430 kW) and 627 pound-feet (850 Nm) of torque. Its nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system contribute to its agility, even with a weight of around two and a half tons (~5,500 pounds). Accelerating from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in approximately 4.5 seconds, the G 63 reaches a top speed of 137 mph (220 kph).

However, purists longing for a V12 powerplant in the G 63 were left disappointed when Mercedes-AMG decided against its inclusion due to carbon dioxide emissions concerns. Nonetheless, Brabus has now fulfilled the desires of these enthusiasts by introducing a V12-powered variant.

While the V12 option addresses the power demands of some customers, Mercedes is also looking toward an electric future. The company is currently refining the EQG, an all-electric version of the G-Class. Several EQG prototypes have been spotted retaining the iconic SUV’s design while operating silently with the help of four electric motors. Detailed specifications regarding the EQG’s power output and performance remain undisclosed at this time.

In conclusion, Brabus has answered the call for a V12-powered Mercedes-AMG G 63 after Mercedes-AMG’s decision to prioritize emissions reductions. As the automotive industry heads toward an electric future, Mercedes is also developing the EQG, an all-electric iteration of the G-Class.
