Mansory G Class Vehicles – Whatever You Want, They Can Make It

There are quite a few companies dedicated to building on and improving the iconic Mercedes G Class in the aftermarket, but it’s fair to say that few can come close to matching the depth and breadth of Mansory’s lineup. They’ve been turning out iconic (and polarizing, depending who you ask) G Wagon conversions since the 1980s, and have worked their magic on nearly every iteration of the G Class that has left the Mercedes factory, from pickups to giant six-wheeled off-road sleds. Regardless of the target market, they have never wavered on their key tenants, and on what sets them apart from the competition – world-class craftsmanship and materials that simply cannot be matched or beat anywhere. All of these conversions feature beautifully reupholstered cabins with custom trim and accents, fully reworked body panels, and performance upgrades good for over 800 horsepower. There are far too many flavors of the Mansory G Class to cover them all in this one article, but let’s take a look at three of the most interesting and exclusive models below.

The Soft Kit G 500 4×4 Squared

If you’re a serious G Class enthusiast, you’re likely already very familiar with the 4×4 Squared trim available on the G 500. This is Mercedes’ masterclass in what can be done to the standard G Class to create the ultimate in off-road luxury. Given how desirable and well-received the “standard” 4×4 Squared vehicles are, it might come as a surprise to see that the improvements that Mansory made are just that – meaningful improvements to an already wonderful vehicle.

The Soft Kit trim level comes with a fully overhauled interior, and like all other Mansory interiors, it is absolutely gorgeous. Hexagonal quilted leather complete with numerous Mansory logos creates a cabin environment far beyond that of the standard Mercedes offering. The leather and gauge clusters are also finished in contrast stitching to match the body color. You’ll also find a bespoke steering wheel, specifically designed for the 4×4 Squared. It’s unclear exactly what the benefits might be to this, but the carbon accents and Mansory badging in the middle look incredible.

Custom, forged wheels lower unsprung mass and increase handling, while a side-exit sport exhaust helps the modestly-tweaked engine to breathe a little better – and lets everyone know you’re coming. Perhaps the feature that Mansory is most proud of is something they actually call their “stairway to heaven.” It’s an automatically extending step that retracts under the running boards when not in use. Given the tremendous ground clearance of the 4×4 Squared, this will be an appreciated addition for even the tallest of passengers.

The end result of the Mansory Soft Kit 4×4 Squared is stunning on the inside and out. Dripping in carbon fiber and custom leather, this vehicle can handle any inclement weather or rougher roads, and do it with the highest level of quality and comfort.

The Gronos 2021

The Gronos 2021 is perhaps the most street-focused offering of Mansory’s G Wagon conversions. Based on the G 63 and limited to ten units worldwide, all of the Gronos vehicles will be finished in one of the greatest colors in automotive history – British Racing Green. Every body panel has been extensively redesigned, and Mansory’s proprietary carbon fiber weave (appropriately called “Forged Carbon”) is prominently displayed from every angle of the exterior, and side-exit exhaust tips poke out from under the rear passenger doors. The Mansory logo is displayed proudly on the forged carbon rear tire cover that completely encases the spare. A closer look will reveal that the doors themselves have been widened; try finding that from a manufacturer other than Mansory.

Street-pattern tires help transfer 850 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque to the pavement, which are wrapped around their proprietary DX-5 24” wheels finished in Black Diamond. All of these refinements make the Gronos good for a 3.5-second 0-62 time. The cabin receives the full Mansory treatment of scalloped leather in their “Fawn Brown” color, as well as all of the requisite carbon fiber trim on the dash, center console, and control surfaces. Contrasting with the dark green of the exterior, the result is a timeless and classic color combination that will ensure the Gronos maintains its unmistakable street presence for decades to come, if you’re lucky enough to be one of the ten owners of this most exclusive vehicle.

The Armored G 63

As wild as the previous offerings from Mansory are, it turns out that even those aren’t quite the cutting edge of what Mansory is able to do to a G Class. Consider the following situations. Perhaps you’re a billionaire involved in some contentious dealings, and you’re concerned for your safety while traveling from your private jet to your estate. Perhaps you’re a celebrity, concerned about aggressive driving from the paparazzi. Or perhaps you’re an average Joe looking to take a scenic drive through downtown Baltimore and live to tell the tale. If you fall into any of these categories, you might be thinking to yourself, “Gee, Mansory does some great things to the G Class, but I really wish they had a bulletproof offering, too!” Well, you’re in luck.

The Mansory G 63 Armored is exactly what it sounds like. This G 63-based vehicle features “invisible armor” which is rated to VPAM4 or VPAM7 standards, depending on the wishes of the customer. Essentially, this thing can soak up rifle rounds in safety, if this might be a concern where one would live or do business. Cosmetically, Mansory’s “invisible armor” really is just that – there’s almost no discernible difference between this and a normal G 63.

All of the other quirks and features a buyer would expect are present here, as well. Options for 700 and 800 horsepower models are available; the additional power will be much appreciated while hauling around all that extra ballistic-rated steel. It’s the full Mansory conversion, plus the ballistic package, so you get all of the interior beautification as well – plus windows that roll down, which isn’t always a given in special protection vehicles. As is often the case with such hyper-customizable vehicles, official pricing information is a little difficult to come by, but for the highest level of ballistic protection, you can expect to pay a turnkey price of around $700,000 – perhaps actually a small price to pay for the ultimate piece of mind?

Overall, Mansory arguably offers the deepest lineup of customized G Wagons that you’ll find from any manufacturer. Whether you’re looking for an armored special protection vehicle or the ultimate desert buggy upgrades for your 4×4 Squared, Mansory has an offering to suit your taste and give you an heirloom-quality vehicle built to the highest standards of luxury and craftsmanship that you can find anywhere.
