Brabus 800 XLP: A Refined Mercedes-AMG G 63 Pickup Truck

Mercedes-Benz has decided not to venture into the pickup truck segment after the Nissan Navara-based X-Class failed to gain traction. However, this doesn’t mean that pickup enthusiasts are left without options, as aftermarket tuners like Brabus have taken the reins to create impressive and luxurious pickups based on the rugged Mercedes-AMG G 63.

One such creation that has been making waves is the Brabus 800 XLP. While it’s not an entirely new entry in the tuner’s lineup, this particular version deserves attention due to its striking white exterior finish, black accents, and carbon fiber elements. Brabus has taken the already powerful and imposing AMG G 63 and turned it into a pickup truck that exudes luxury and performance.

The exterior of the Brabus 800 XLP is a feast for the eyes, featuring a carbon fiber body kit, oversized wheels wrapped in robust tires, electric running boards, a winch, a bullbar, additional roof-mounted lights, a custom hood, and various Brabus badges. However, what sets this model apart is its open bed design at the rear, replacing the traditional closed trunk area. This modification not only enhances the vehicle’s visual appeal but also improves its off-road capabilities.

Under the hood, the bi-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine receives Brabus’ magic touch, resulting in an impressive power output of 789 horsepower (800 PS/588 kW) and a torque of 738 pound-feet (1,000 Nm). This substantial increase in power propels the Brabus 800 XLP from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) in a mere 4.1 seconds, with a top speed reaching an astounding 190 mph (306 kph). In comparison, the standard G 63, with its 577 hp (585 PS/430 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm), takes 4.5 seconds to reach 62 mph and has a top speed of 137 mph (220 kph).

Inside the cabin, the Brabus treatment continues with an opulent blend of white leather, diamond quilting, and black piping. Brabus logos adorn various components, including the headrests and seatbacks. The cabin’s ambience is further enhanced by flashy ambient lighting, a feature found in all Mercedes-AMG G 63 models.

While the price tag for this bespoke Brabus 800 XLP remains undisclosed, one can expect it to be substantial, given the extensive modifications and performance enhancements. For those with deep pockets seeking a blend of luxury, performance, and the rugged appeal of a pickup truck, the Brabus 800 XLP offers an enticing proposition, pushing the boundaries of what a pickup truck can be.
